About The Bites

Hello and welcome to Beezer’s Bites! I began snapping photos of my (very limited) cooking during my time in Japan as a way of proving to my loved ones that I was eating and would survive. When I returned to the U.S. the habit continued and I snapped photos of nearly everything I made. While I took care with my amateur photography in general, you’ll notice my early food photos were tragic. I was still so astonished when things turned out well (or even edible – see: “quesadilla incident“) that I only wanted proof of success.

Eventually, though, I enjoyed making my own meals more and I started pushing myself to try new things. My food photography started improving as I took more care in my cooking, and eventually it all showed up here. I hope you enjoy what you see and please feel free comment about recipes or techniques, I’m still learning!

UPDATE: I recently moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia two years ago (wow, time flies!) to pursue my master’s degree in Astronomy. After having been out of school for 5 years, it’s an understatement to say my new program is a challenge, but I’m thoroughly enjoying my research! Unfortunately any graduate student will tell you free time and grocery $$ is very hard to come by – we aren’t known for living off of ramen (oh, excuse me, “Mr. Noodles”) for nothing – but making unprocessed, delicious food is still a high priority for me. My goal is to share at least one recipe a week, but please forgive me if I fall behind. I realize now I haven’t had time to post since this past summer and it’s really made me think about what I want to do with Beezer’s Bites. I definitely won’t delete the site… but I’m not sure if I should formally “retire”.

For now, I’m just going to hope that I’ll eventually have the time to return here regularly. To be honest, I’m not cooking/baking nearly as often and have settled into making working woman’s meals of salads, soups, and packable fruit every day. Not much variety, but relatively fresh and can be pulled off last minute. I want to thank everyone for their feedback and support, and I look forward to growing this blog again someday!

  2. Thanks! You inspired me! When you created Corn Flakes and Coffee I thought, “Hmm…maybe I should give my food pics a new home too” but quickly abandoned the idea because Food Blogs are so numerous and amazing these days.

    …a few weeks later, though, I created a site just to test it out and quickly became obsessed! Hahaha
